From pain to the idea

Back in 2015, Mikko, an investor himself, was frustrated in a sea of spreadsheets, sticky notes, and endless emails. His days were a chaotic mix of juggling deals and chasing down paperwork. He'd searched high and low for a tool that could streamline his operations, but everything he found was either too clunky, too expensive, or just plain boring.

One Wednesday evening, his supervisor asked him to put together a comprehensive review to then current activities for the next day. After pulling an all-nighter, the following evening, he thought there had to be a better way and drafted a mock-up of an ideal tool using just Powerpoint.

This initial idea, captured in a simple PowerPoint mock-up, sparked a journey to transform the concept into a tangible solution. He started gathering feedback from potential customers. He realized he wasn't alone in his struggle. Many others were yearning for a more efficient way to work, and some of them wanted to join as an early angel investor.

With this newfound motivation, he sought out a tech-savvy co-founder to turn his PowerPoint dream into a reality.

From idea to the product

A clear vision without the ability to execute it will only take you so far. Mikko, drawing on experiences with Timo from previous projects, partnered with him. Timo is a seasoned CTO with over 20 years of experience building mission-critical applications in multiple companies he has founded. Together, they embarked on a journey to build Zapflow.

The initial MVP, while functional, quickly revealed a broader opportunity. Through user testing and feedback, it became clear that a more comprehensive platform was needed to address the evolving needs of buy-side professionals. The team decided to pivot and rebuild the product from the ground up.
